Former Convent of PP. Carmelites and Chiesa del Carmine

The Convent with adjoining church is located in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, built in the fifteenth century, the convent is currently the seat of the Town Hall. The convent was commissioned by Giuseppe Branciforti but completed by the Carmelite prior G. Marco Ferranti around 1673.

The church has a Latin cross shape with baroque ornaments, the high altar is richly decorated with polychrome marbles. Inside is the crypt of the Sarcophagus of Prince Giovanni II Branciforti, a work attributed to Domenico Gagini.
