The deconsecrated church is located in Via S. Anna, and is also known as the Church of Maria SS. della Catena (because it is connected to the Brotherhood of coral fishermen) and also the Church of S. Anna as it is adjacent to the former Convent of S. Anna. Built in the fourteenth century by coral fishermen near the Bastione di S. Anna (Imperial Bastion), it underwent several changes, only the outside can be visited, which has a beautiful Baroque portal built in 1783. The artistic heritage, including part of the internal floor in majolica is kept at the “Pepoli” Regional Museum.
The church must be distinguished from the church of Santa Lucia built by the Capuchins in 1672, ach'essa abandoned which stands in Piazza Gen. Sciò
