Via Roma, after crossing the bridge of San Francesco, you come to a large open space, opposite, the massive bulk of the former Bourbon prison, built in 1782 by the architect Natale Bonajuto at the behest of King Ferdinand, The square-plan structure and built in local sandstone with Ionic pilaster frames. In 1899 it was assigned to Monte di Pietà, today the seat of the Luigi Sturzo Civic Museum. The building has an elegant entrance hall and houses a precious bronze door from the 1588th century. The Museum includes an archaeological section, a picture gallery and a historical collection of objects and works of various kinds belonging to different eras. Among other assets, you can admire the historic fercolo of San Giacomo, medieval and modern parchments, a silver pyx from XNUMX and a valuable richly carved medieval crossbow
