Former Abbey of San Benedetto - Militello in Val di Catania

In Piazza Municipio 1. The monastery and the adjoining church were built between 1614 and 1646. The Monastery is currently the seat of the town hall. The church has a decorated facade and features a rustic ashlar typical of the local baroque. The Church has a single nave with six side chapels. The interior has stucco decorations, and valuable marble altars from the first half of the 700th century. The interior also contains a beautiful choir of carved walnut wood from 1734, a canvas "the last Communion of St. Benedict", painted by Sebastiano Conca (1741) and a silver bust from 1719.
