Contrada Castellito
Description

Contrada Castellito

Roman villa with mosaic flooring. In 1978 two rooms with a mosaic floor with geometric decoration and a wall structure were brought to light, the trend of which suggested that of a private spa system. From October 1995 to February 1996 other rooms were found, equipped with mosaic flooring, articulated around a central courtyard, and a thermal complex with calidarium, tepidarium, praefurnium. The architectural complex, given its location close to the Roman road Catania‐
Agrigento, could be identified in the Massa Capitoniana, first statio from Catania.
