Mother Church (S. Giacomo) - Ferla
The Mother Church is the only parish church in Ferla and is dedicated to San Giacomo Maggiore Apostolo. The current church was rebuilt, after the earthquake of 1693, on the same perimeter as the previous one, which must have been of the Renaissance type. The church is characterized by an imposing masonry strongly supported by sturdy buttresses, on both sides. The façade built by two architectural orders (the first Doric, the second Ionic) was perhaps never completed. The earthquake of 1848 had to completely erase the incomplete part of the third order, followed by the construction of the clock tower built on a buttress, on the north side. On the main portal, in Corinthian style, stands the civic coat of arms.
