Church of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola and former Jesuit Convent - Mazarin
The Church of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola (founder of the company of Jesus), and the adjoining Jesuit convent and oratory were built at the behest of the Prince of Mazarin Carlo Maria Carafa in 1694, today after careful restoration the convent is a Cultural-Museum Center Carlo Maria Carafa.
The church was completed in 1718, while the college, probably due to lack of funds, remained incomplete of the portico and of the second level of the main façade.
The Jesuit architect Angelo Italia had to contribute to the construction, who was also responsible for other works by Mazzarino including the church of Santa Maria della Neve.
The Church and the convent are affected, in some parts, by the Baroque influence typical of the Val di Noto
