The Church of Santa Maria di Gesù and the convent of the Order of the Observant Friars Minor (Ta 'Ġeżu in Maltese) was built by the architect, engineer Girolamo Cassar in 1571. The church houses the alabaster statue depicting the Madonna with child from 1504, by Antonello Gagini, sculpted during the sculptor's stay in Messina. The Crucifix wooden of the seventeenth century by Innocenzo da Petralia. The tomb of Blessed Ignazio Falzon in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Since 1646 it has been the seat of the Confraternity of the Crucifix. (Source: Wikipedia)
