Church of San Giovanni - Piazza Armerina

DESCRIPTION: Its current structures are from the eighteenth century, but it was founded in the fourteenth century. as a church annexed to the Benedictine monastery. It is accessed from the side through two baroque portlets: at the entrance a precious Cantoria in gilded wrought iron. The interior is frescoed by Guglielmo Borremans (1670-1744) and his pupils: on the walls scenes from the life of Benedictine saints; in the vault «The Immaculate Conception among the Virtues»; in the presbytery on the left «The Adoration of the Shepherds», on the right the «Epiphany». The interior also preserves, on the wall in front of the main altar, a gilded wrought iron choir loft
