Church of San Giovanni Evangelista
In Via Mormino Penna next to the Town Hall. Built in the second half of the XNUMXth century. it was annexed to the Benedictine Monastery, demolished in the XNUMXth century to make way for the Town Hall. The current structure is affected by the various renovations carried out from the eighteenth to the twentieth century.
The concave-convex façade with three orders reveals Borrominian influences (S. Carlino alle Quattro Fontane - Rome). The interior with an elliptical plan and covered by a dome (the large windows open directly onto the shutter of the dome). The stuccos and decorations of the interior are from the XNUMXth century. Among the works conserved inside, the Christ of Burgos (XNUMXth century) is of considerable interest, commonly called “the Christ in a skirt”. The canvas represents the Crucified Christ on a totally dark background and covered from the hips to the ankles by a white priestly robe edged with a lace band.
