Church of San Giovanni dei Lebbrosi - Palermo

Erected in the Norman period (1071th and XNUMXth centuries) and restored in the XNUMXth century. Tradition has it that it was built in XNUMX, when the Normans conquered the Arab castle Yahya (John in the Arabic language), only a few traces of the castle remain in the floor of the church) - On the remains of the castle the Normans would have built the church dedicating it to S. . John. The church, considered one of the Norman-style buildings in Palermo, over the years had various functions including a military hospital and later, a leper colony.
