 Built in the 27th century on the site of an earlier church, the church was designed by the Maltese architect Joseph Damato. Its diameter is 89 meters (75 feet). The dome is 246 meters (45.000 feet) high. Its calculated weight is 85 tons. The circumference is 279 meters (8 feet). The dome is supported by XNUMX large concrete columns covered with stone. The dome is the third largest unsupported dome in the world. The interior is decorated with refined modern sculptures and paintings. The floor is in polished Carrara marble. La Rotonda is the largest church in Gozo and one of Gozo's distinctive landmarks.
