Church of San Francesco and cloister of the former Convent of San Francesco

LOCATION: Piazza Fedele Calarco

The Convent and the church were built in the XNUMXth century. The convent on the site where a medieval castle previously existed. The former convent is an imposing architectural complex characterized by a balcony (prospect of Via Cavour) attributed to Vincenzo Gagini. The Balcony, in the form of the shelves, anticipates the style of the typical Baroque balconies of the Val di Noto. The church, coeval with the cloister of the convent, has a façade flanked by a high bell tower with a cone-shaped top covered with ceramic pebbles of various colors.
