Church of San Francesco d'Assisi - Caltagirone
In Piazza San Francesco d'Assisi. Built in the eighteenth century on the remains of the previous church dating back to the thirteenth century. The façade has two orders on which sculptures reproducing the elements of Marian symbolism stand out; in the center, above the entrance, the statue of the Immaculate Conception. Subsequently, the bell tower and the dome, which remained unfinished, were built. Traces of the 1677th century building are present inside the sacristy, to the left of the apse. Inside there are numerous paintings by the Vaccaro brothers and a wooden statue of Sant'Antonio from XNUMX. The Convent is currently used as a bishop's seat.
