Church of S. Tommaso (S. Maria di Valverde)

SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Built in the 1928th century on the remains of a previous church, the church was annexed to the convent of the Carmelite nuns and was originally dedicated to S. Maria di Valverde. The convent was demolished in XNUMX to make way for the Giambattista Marini Asylum. The façade has a neoclassical style door bordered by two pilasters and surmounted by a cornice, above it a window. The bell tower is in Baroque style and is attributed to Rosario Gagliardi, although it is more likely the work of one of his pupils. The interior preserves, on the main altar, a nineteenth-century painting depicting the Madonna del Carmelo attributed to Vito D'Anna.
