Olivella Church

LOCATION:
Tommaso Fazello Course
DATING:
1645
DESCRIPTION:
Built on the site where there was a house on whose wall an image of S. Maria dell'Arco was venerated. Originally dedicated to S. Maria dell'Arco, after a few years it began to be called dell'Olivella in imitation of the Church of Olivella in Palermo. It was rebuilt in its present form in the mid-nineteenth century. The interior, with a single nave is enriched with stuccoes and preserves some works including the polychrome marble altar which contains a canvas dedicated to S. Maria dell'Arco, perhaps the same canvas that was venerated on the pre-existing house of the church.
