Church of the Immacolatella di S. Stefano Briga
Uncertain origin and history of this small monastery built not far from Messina, near the homonymous stream. It seems that the monastery was also known by the toponym of Santo Stefano di Messina. The complex was the grange of S. Salvatore di Messina in 1131. The monastery had to be looked for where it seems to have always remained, near the S. Stefano stream, having favored the birth of the homonymous village of S. Stefano Briga. In the village, in fact, the presence of a church (church of the Immacolatella) is identified, oriented approximately west-east, whose medieval origin is undoubted. It is likely that this is what remains of the monastery of S. Stefano Briculo. Source: http://www.medioevosicilia.eu
