Church of the Most Holy Crucifix (San Francesco di Paola)

Built in the XNUMXth century, the facade exterior, dated 1695, has a convex shape, typical of the style rococo.

The Church has a single nave, with five altars; in 1750 it was embellished with stuccoes by Nicholas Curti; inside there are several works:

On the main altar:

• Crucifix, wooden sculpture of the nineteenth century, the work of Trapani Francis Marino

On the left side:

• Holy Trinity(by an unknown author), with the two saints Cosma and Damiano, Saint Rosalia e St. Francis de Sales (1750)
• la Our Lady of Fátima, recent wooden sculpture
• San Biagio, work of the '700, by an unknown author: coming from the former Church of the Annunciation (Alcamo)
• Sacred Heart of Jesus, wooden statue, placed in 1921

On the right side:

• Madonna of Miracles, with San Francesco di Paola e St. Francis de Sales(1750), unknown painting;
• San Francesco di Paola, wooden sculpture perhaps by Philip Quattrocchidi Gangi (XNUMXth century)
• Sant'Anna, sculpture wooden(end nineteenth century): it replaced a painting of 1618 (destroyed) made by Joseph Carrera
• Statue ofImmaculatein plaster, recent.
• San Vito, wooden statue of 1848
• holy water fontsculpted in 1606 by Joseph Foti: at the entrance.

On the walls of the nave there are four ancient canvases by an unknown author and with frames by stucco, with some episodes from the life of San Francesco di Paola:

• the miracle occurred during the construction of the convent of Paterno Calabro(province of Cosenza) in 1454: two workers who died due to a landslide were resurrected by the Saint (first on the right).
• the prodigious miracle of fish by San Francesco di Paola (in the second painting on the right)
• a noble family presents to the Saint a newborn without eyes and mouth; St. Francis also works here an extraordinary miracle (in the first painting on the left wall).
• the miracle of the conversion of King of Naples(second painting on the left).
• the establishment of the Jewish Easter(book of Exodus), on the right wall of the chapel of Blessed Sacrament;
• the banquet offered by Lotto two Angels, (Book of Genesis), painted on the left wall of the same chapel

In the sacristy:
