From Piazza Duomo turn right into via Principe Amedeo, just before Piazza Municipio on the right you will find the collegio descent where you can admire the splendid facade of the Gesu church. The church was built, together with the adjoining Jesuit Fathers' college, in the 1693th century on the same site as a previous Norman church. The entire complex has undergone various reconstruction interventions, in particular after the earthquake of 1605. The façade, on two orders, has an imposing portal surrounded by niches in which the statues of Jesuit saints are placed while at the top of the façade there are the statues of the Madonna, San Giuseppe and Saints Peter and Paul. The interior has a single nave and preserves interesting works including a canvas from XNUMX. by Filippo Paladini depicting the Pietà with San Giacomo, a wooden crucifix from the XNUMXth century. attributed to Calogero Cusumano, a canvas of the sixteenth century. by Deodato Guinaccia pupil of Polidoro Caldara and the baroque altar bordered by twisted columns.
