Oratory of the Ten Thousand Martyrs

LOCATION: Monte di Pietà district. Via Francesco di Raimondo.

Dating: XNUMXth century

STYLE: baroque Built in the sixteenth century at the behest of the Knights of Jerusalem. The church was renovated in 1715. The current structure shows a simple, slightly convex facade, whose decorative motifs recall the themes of martyrdom such as palm trees and laurel leaves. On the tympanum of the access door there is a stucco medallion in which Saint Horace and his 9.000 soldiers are present who together with other 1.000 pagans were martyred after having converted to Christianity.
