Church of the Cappuccini

Church of the Cappuccini

Originally it was a Capuchin convent with the adjoining church dedicated to S. Giorgio, whose foundation dates back to 1579.
The convent and the church then changed their title to that of the Immaculate Conception in homage to an admirable image of the virgin, an object of worship by the faithful, while the monastery today houses the Clarisse nuns of Montevergine.
Inside the church it is possible to admire, in addition to the silver statue of the Madonna, a beautifully crafted wooden crucifix, the delicate marbles that decorate the internal altars and in particular the "transfiguration" by Deodato Guinaccia.
