about Hikkara:
“Not having any foreclosure towards this or that other site, it seems to me appropriate to remember that other sites are topographically suspected as much as that of Carburangeli-Baglio di Carini; perhaps some have some more archaeological elements. Eventually, after so much wandering around
Carburangeli, Giustolisi proposed to identify Hikkara with Monte d'Oro which dominates the town of Montelepre, inland, eight kilometers as the crow flies from the sea of Carini. Recently the identification was accepted by Caterina Greco and Francesca Spatafora. Monte d'Oro - what a good thing
I know, a training ground for clandestine excavators for decades, is a naturally strong site, almost perched, dating back to the VI-III century. BC, if you give credit to Thucydite "a town located on the sea" - it is therefore not Hikkara. The knowledge acquired in dozens and dozens of inspections in the area
they make me point out other more suitable candidates from the topographical point of view, to be ascertained with modest surveys of the archaeological aspect. They are: Pizzo Muletta or Poggio Muletta, archaeologically destroyed and become an Urban Park about one kilometer from the sea. Cozzo Buffa and Celibaida about 5 kilometers from the sea.
