Aragonese Castle - Piazza Armerina
LOCATION: Piazza Castello
DATING: XIV CENTURY.
DESCRIPTION: Built from 1392 to 1396, the King of Sicily Martin I of Aragon resided there. Like Frederick's castles, it has a regular quadrilateral plan closed at the corners by massive asymmetrical quadrangular towers, and rests on a high base with oblique angular spurs, built at the rear. Of the three original floors only two remain, it was also the seat of the district prison
