Old Houses
Description

Old Houses

With the name of “Case Vecchie” is indicated that residential area opposite the Piazza Municipio. In this very important site, pages of the history of the island overlap. Here the late Roman inhabited area extended. The archive documentation speaks of a church of S.
Maria in Ustica in 1284, which I believe I have identified in some ruins, which in 1312 "collapsed for a long time neglect". The island is considered abandoned in 1326 due to the incursion of the Turks (Amico). On the site of the Case Vecchie and to the west, also in the fields, clay fragments dating back to the Middle Bronze Age are collected. F ° 249 ° IV NE, Ustica; UTM: UC42728630, Altitude: 80 m.
