Contrada Bonera
Settlement
The site covers an extensive area that involves the southern portion of a vast plateau at an altitude of 83 m asl. The site is characterized by the presence of highly concentrated ceramic fragments, especially in the western part of the area. Furthermore, squared ashlars of calcarenite and rough-hewn stones are found scattered on the ground, evidently pertaining to ancient wall structures. The ceramic finds present on the surface testify to a long attendance at the site: there are fragments of archaic Greek ceramics, Greek , of Roman pottery including pottery of common use, terra sigillata from Italy and of African production, transport amphorae. There are also, albeit rare, fragments of early medieval invetiated pottery. Furthermore, near the western edge of the area, there are fragments of ceramic mixture from the prehistoric era and lithic and flint tools.
