Description
Falconry is a hunting practice based on the use of hawks or other birds of prey to capture prey, usually other birds.
In Italy, hunting with falcons is regulated by law 157 of 1992, which includes the hawk among the allowed hunting means. Therefore, to hunt with the hawk, it is necessary to have a regular hunting license; free flight, on the other hand, is regulated in a different way according to the region where it is carried out, even if in many regions it is necessary to have a hunting license even for non-hunting purposes.
Thanks to falconry, birds of prey can also be trained to carry out socially useful jobs such as, for example, keeping away flocks of birds that could create dangers in airport areas.
Antonio Centamore, master falconer, in the locality of Castelmola founded the International School of Falconry and the International Center for Shows with Eagles and Hawks in flight (CISAF).
