Area of fragments by C.da Chiarchiaro
Very close to the bed of the Gibellina river, in an area with a gentle slope facing east, we find an area of ceramic fragments with an approximately rounded shape. The land is cultivated with arable land and the visibility is good, the finds are scattered with low density of concentration and mostly consist of very shredded fragments. Among the finds we mention some fragments of pithos, fragments of roof tiles without the strip; many fragments of amphorae and containers without decoration, mostly referable to forms of fire pottery (in some cases traces of
burnt). The data that emerged relate with a certain certainty of a frequentation of the area in the Greek age, with an apparent moment of subsequent abandonment, even if we cannot completely exclude a possible extension of the life of the site also during the following eras.
