Equipped Area Red Stones
Taking the municipal road that leads to the Peloritani military watershed road, along a dirt road at an altitude of 1000, on the same level curve, which allows an overall view of the Savoca State Property, a road to the right, always unpaved, traveled for about 500 meters, takes us to the Pietre Rosse equipped area located in a sort of natural promontory, on the valley of the Misitano stream.
A dense arboreal vegetation frames this pleasant location, rich in chestnut trees, downy oaks, holm oaks, oriental plane trees, pear trees, interspersed with many black pines. There is also a rich and varied vegetation that makes up the undergrowth. The receptivity of the area is given by several wooden benches and tables made on site with chestnut wood and there is also a natural fountain of natural spring water. In the area it is also possible to see a natural waterfall with a drop of about 20 meters, very suggestive. The equipped area in question bears the name of the mountain massif above whose rocks are red or brick-red.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the Internet site of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (constantly updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
