Description

Equipped area Nocerazzo

The Nocerazzo equipped area is located in the homonymous wooded complex in the municipal area of Roccella Valdemone. It is mainly composed of Mediterranean pines and chestnuts, all forest species of old planting. Interesting is the presence of some very old chestnut trees, as evidence of an ancient use contributing to the sustenance of a poor local economy. To reach the equipped area we recommend starting from Floresta. Take the state road towards Santa Domenica Vittoria and Randazzo, arrive at the Favoscuro junction and continue on the provincial road to Montalbano Elicona. After about 3 km. turn right in the direction of Tripi and about one km. turn right again towards Roccella Valdemone along a municipal road, here of a dirt track.

A few more minutes of walking and here we are in the presence of the Nocerazzo Forestry Property where the equipped area object of our interest has been created. The various accommodation facilities are located to the right and left of the main path that runs through the State Property, starting almost close to the entrance gate. The area allows you to spend a pleasant day away from urban congestion and from the equipped area it is possible to make excursions throughout the State, rich in naturalistic attractions.

Note on Sources

The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
