Unnamed Road

Equipped state area Anapo Valley - Pantalica

From Sortino follow the signs for Solarino, SP n. 18 and after about 6 Km. On the right follow the signs for Val d'Anapo. Less than 1 Km. You arrive at the entrance of the Nature Reserve, within which the equipped area has been created. You park the car in the space provided and accompanied by the forest minibus you can reach the equipped area. In truth, these are 4 areas equipped along the main path of Val d'Anapo which starting from the Sortivo side in succession are Grotta, Cascitta, Stazione Pantalica, Isola Coco and Isola Ardito. The areolas, very suggestive, were almost all built under the road near the Anapo stream that crosses the Valley and there are only tables and benches made with local material. There are no fire points and children's play areas because they are prohibited by the Reserve Regulations.
The proximity of all areas to the stream gives them particular charm. Interesting is the intrigue of the high Mediterranean scrub with strips of natural holm oak and the presence of oriental plane trees, all naturalistic emergencies of this part of Sicily while for archeology lovers it is possible to see the buildings carved into the rock by the ancient Sicans who populated these lands in ancient times.
It is a different world where time seems to have stopped and where you can savor the taste of nature.

Note on Sources

The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the Internet site of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (constantly updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
