Tre Pizzi state-owned equipped area
From Barcelona reach Castroreale. From here, take the Castroreale-Mandanici provincial road, the first part of which is asphalted and then continues as a dirt road. From the intersection where there are three-way wooden signs, continue in the direction of Mandanici and after about 4 Km. In a pleasant climb among mixed forest formations, you will arrive at the equipped area of Tre Pizzi, characterized, among other things, by the presence of a fire watchtower and access to which is possible only by means of a long and characteristic staircase in stone. The accommodation area located under the aforementioned tower on a natural plateau was built with several wooden tables and benches, a gazebo, an oven, fountains with spring water. Some tables have been made under wooden canopies that allow family groups and hikers in general to enjoy a sort of familiarity while stopping in the woods. Large stumps of chestnut and Mediterranean pines of different ages are the forest species of this very unique equipped area which has something different from all the other equipped areas in the area.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
