Todisca state-owned equipped area
From the municipality of Altavilla Milicia follow the main central street - Via Loreto - until past the last houses for about two kilometers and at the crossroads continue to the left. The mountain ranges that we previously saw distant now seem to get closer and closer to us and we are crossing a territory alternately rich in olive trees and grazing areas. The road winds along the track of the so-called “Regia Trazzera Case Nuove” which is partly paved and partly bumpy and continues for about 5 kilometers on a gentle climb. After a few hairpin bends you will come across a stretch of road built with paving, then take the dirt road on the right that will lead you to the forest gate of the Todisca State Property, with a drinking trough in front of it that feeds an underlying artificial reservoir for fire prevention purposes.
The equipped area is located beyond the aforementioned gate and if this is closed, access is possible from a side wooden gate that is easy to open manually. The dominant trees are old conifers that give the area a lot of pleasant shade, while various natural oak species are present throughout the State Property.
The tables, benches and fire points were built on shelves of the ground that had previously been stepped and the various steps are made accessible by flights of stone steps that give a beautiful appearance to the whole area, an ideal place to spend some pleasant hours away from inhabited centers and almost far from everyday life.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
