State equipped area: Piano Vernà

Continuing on the path of the equipped area of ​​Cavagna, at about 1800
meters, along an uphill dirt road, in a state-owned area, between centuries-old chestnut trees and large black pines, after several hairpin bends, at a crossroads located at an altitude of about 1000, take the dirt road on the left, which, traveled for about 1 km ., leads us straight to the destination of our journey. The area is located in a sort of plateau below Monte Vernà, in a densely wooded area covered with chestnut stumps. It is in this very valuable environmental context that the equipped area has been created consisting of various accommodation facilities such as tables, benches, swings, cooking points, rubbish baskets, pot baskets, a fountain with spring water and an area for children's games. Attached to the area there is a forest house mainly used as a warehouse, which fits in well and blends in with the environment.
To access this area it is preferable to contact the Departmental Forestry Inspectorate of Messina in advance, competent for the area. The presence in the area of ​​oriental plane trees and rare herbaceous species such as the mountain violet and the scilla biflora is interesting.
