Mustigarufi state-owned equipped area

Starting from S. Cataldo, take the road to Marianopoli and about 10 Km. On the left you will find a first sign indicating the equipped area, the destination of our journey.
By accessing this road indicated by the arrow, which winds for about 5 km, you will arrive at the entrance to the state-owned forest of Mustigarufi, characterized by an ancient plant of eucalyptus and Mediterranean pines. The equipped area was built under the oldest eucalyptus with more compact foliage and although the species is not typical of the Mediterranean landscape, it is now so well acclimatized that it can be said to be an integral part of it. In the area there are many wooden benches, many tables, different fire points, fountains, etc. all well integrated into the environmental context. The area is very popular with school groups, groups of scouts and people who love nature, with peaks of attendance recorded in one day exceeding a thousand units.

The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
