Mount Gradara Romitello state-owned equipped area
Once in Borgetto, about 25 Km. From Palerno, you will have to follow the signs for Santuario di Romitello. From the crossroads, where you will notice a fountain from which fresh water gushes, you will travel 3 km. Of hairpin bends to reach a sign on the table showing the indication "Monte Gradara equipped area", placed under a majestic holm oak tree. Take the road on the right and after about 3 Km. Of high mountain landscapes you enter the wood, whose dominant species are pines and cypresses.
Along this road you come to a green gate, located just below the highway because the road continues towards the top of the mountain, and this is the entrance to the equipped area.
As soon as you cross the gate there is a strong sensation of coolness since the equipped area is almost entirely in the shade and the large crowns of Mediterranean pines are the vault of the sky from which the sun's rays can barely pass.
Rustic tables of different sizes and large concrete benches, cooking points, a fountain and a lovely playground with slides, swings, balance beams, carousels and more are the equipment of the area located in a very beautiful and typical inland wooded complex. Palermo.
The artificial forest is contrasted by a few strips of natural holm oak, a sign of the potential of the soil that will have to be converted over time.
The area is one of the quietest because it is far from urban sources of disturbance and is the ideal place to spend a fun day outdoors and breathe lots of pure air.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
