Inici Belvedere state-owned equipped area

From Castellammare del Golfo, following the main road towards Scopello S. Vito Lo Capo, on the left, immediately after the locality "Crocifisso", where the wooded complex "Inici" begins, in a state-owned area located above the road, an equipped area was created which, due to its proximity to the town and its favorable panoramic location, soon became an obligatory destination for a rest and a stop during school trips. From

this equipped area equipped with many wooden benches and tables, cooking points, drinking fountains, toilets and waste bins and a small playground for children, you can look up to Capo Rama, along the entire coast from Castellammare to Balestrate. The Inici wooded complex, on which the area in question stands, extends over 200 hectares and is made up of species of Mediterranean pines, unfortunately devastated by the calamitous event of fire, which reduced the original wooded area. The area can be considered a temporary stopping point because, continuing the road, you can reach the Riserva dello Zingaro, a protected area managed by the State Forests of the Sicilian Region.

The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
