Imera state-owned equipped area
From Caltanissetta take the Strada Statale n. 191 in the direction of Enna. Drive about 5 km and before the Fiat branch, take a road on the left indicating the National Wine Museum-Villa San Pietro and continue in the direction of the Imera station
After about 6 Km. You enter a cart track on the right that runs alongside a Eucalyptus and after a few hundred meters you will find the equipped area which is the object of our destination. The Imera equipped area was built in the marginal area of the artificial wooded complex that bears the same name and whose dominant tree species is the Eucalyptus, whose trees, some old, others already subject to crop cutting, attest to a plant of over forty years
We are in a typical environment of the Sicilian hinterland, whose original vocation was cereal cultivation but that the change of times has meant that these areas were acquired by the Forestry Property to create arboreal plants aimed at the production of cellulose this project that has not resulted in successful and which ultimately made wooded an area that had never been. The equipped area is bordered by a characteristic forest fence, it consists of various accommodation facilities, wooden benches and tables, drinking fountains, toilets, etc., and due to its proximity to Caltanissetta, it is a popular destination for scout groups also coming from other provinces of the island.
Annexed to the State Property, a mountain bike track has been created over 3 km long, all inside the woods.
The Imera State Property is included in the Southern Imera Valley Oriented Nature Reserve.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the Internet site of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (constantly updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
