Finestrelle state-owned equipped area
Starting from Gibellina, head towards Santa Ninfa. Along this path, at the height of the locality "Menta", a crossroads to the right, with special signs, will lead us to the Finestrelle property. The equipped area, the destination of our trip, can be reached after about 4 km along a dirt road, kept in good condition. The wooded cover of the State property is made up of Mediterranean pines planted about thirty years ago and which have made the landscape different from the original vegetation cover. This wooded complex extends for about 1500 hectares.
In this environmental context, the equipped area was created to allow the fruination of the forest by the people. Wooden tables and benches, toilets, children's playground, drinking fountains, etc. are the infrastructures that are found there. A small agro-forestry museum was also created, which can be visited on request, after connecting with the local Forestry Detachment and the IRF of Trapani. The area is frequented by school groups and groups of scouts, at all times of the year.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
