State-owned equipped area Canneria / Ficuzza

Starting from Sciacca, in the direction of Caltabellotta, on the left along the road you will find the indication “Azienda Agrituristica La Montagnola”, follow this trazzera that after about 2 Km. Will lead us straight to the equipped area. The area was built in an Aleppo pine and stone pine plant about 25 years old which in the territorial context has its own charm. Tables, benches, toilets, cooking points and drinking fountains have been well arranged to allow public use by the many people who want to spend a day outdoors. The area is also accessible to the handicapped.
The lack of adequate signage can create some difficulties for non-residents to reach it, therefore it is advisable to inquire either to the traffic police of the Municipality of Caltabellotta or to the Forestry Detachment of Sambuca di Sicilia, competent for the territory.

Note on Sources

The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
