Description

Canfuto Equipped Area

The recently completed equipped area stands on a wooded hill overlooking the town of Bivona and the whole valley, giving the visitor an exceptional view. With a clear prevalence of conifers, it covers about 3 hectares and with its 12 rustic tables in limestone and suitably planed cypress trunks, it offers about 180 seats. There are also two bathrooms, one for the disabled, fire points and characteristic fountains in local stone expertly made by local workers. The area can be reached along the SP Bivona-S. Stefano Quisquina following the specific signs existing in the aforementioned artery.

Note on Sources

The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
