Equipped Area Calaforno
How to reach us
From Giarratana, follow the signs for the Due Palme restaurant along a dirt road that starts immediately after the last houses of the aforementioned Municipality. After several hairpin bends that wind through agricultural land, on the left a forest gate with the indication Calaforno equipped area, tells us that we have arrived. Pass this gate and after about 2 Km. In the middle of the woods you will begin to see the typical infrastructures of the equipped areas located first on the right of the road over a stream and then also on the left, near an old building, a water mill, now acquired by the Forestry and partially renovated. Mediterranean pines and oriental plane trees are the arboreal vegetation cover of this particularly suggestive wooded area and under which the various infrastructures of the equipped area have been placed that fit well into the environment also because they are all made of wood. Tables, benches, lots of waste bins and a small playground for children are the structures created, which allow you to spend a pleasant day in an uncontaminated environment.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the Internet site of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (constantly updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
