Monumental archaeological area of Castello a Mare
The area extends in and around the Castello a Mare, almost completely destroyed after Italian unification, and includes an Islamic necropolis that has been rearranged and placed in safety.
Inaugurated in 2009, the works for the creation of the park began in 2006 to bring to light the remains of an Arab settlement and redevelop the remains of Castello a Mare. The construction of the park involved the emptying of the moat of the fortifications, which has become a natural cavea, suitable for hosting cultural events.
